MEDICAL ASSISTANT (Front &Back); predominantly front office

Rice Medical Associates is looking for a Medical Assistant (Front/Back Office). The Front/Back Office Medical Assistant supports the flow of patient care by providing excellent patient relations. The Front/Back Office Medical Assistant will be responsible for greeting patients, checking patients in & out, scheduling, verifying insurance/payment, scanning, release of medical information, and assisting primary care providers in the delivery of professional medical care.

Essential Functions:
Front office duties include greeting patients in a friendly, service-oriented manner; checking-in patients; verifying insurance eligibility; checking-out patients; ensuring patients' paperwork is completed; collecting appropriate co-payments/payments; scheduling appointments; posting payments; scanning, copying, and releasing medical records. When needed &/or called upon, Clinical (back office) duties include rooming patients, taking patient histories and vital signs, preparing patients for examination and treatment, documentation in the EHR per clinic protocol, processing refill requests, preparing necessary instruments, giving injections and assisting with lab testing and phlebotomy, preparing and maintaining supplies and equipment for treatments, assisting physicians in preparing for minor surgeries and physicals, assisting with scheduling of tests and treatments, and EKGs.

1. High School Graduate or Equivalent
2. Previous experience as Medical Assistant preferred
3. Strong computer skills a must; previous Practice Management / EHR experience preferred
4. Excellent customer service and communication skills
5. Attention to detail, punctual, and positive attitude
6. Polished, professional and focused
7. Bilingual in Spanish, preferred
8. Must be in good physical condition
9. Must qualify for coverage under the hospital insurance plan

Admits patients to the hospital, dismisses patients, prepares patient's bills for discharge and discusses financial arrangements for patient's account. Works in clean, air-conditioned and well-lit environment. Schedules appointments for specialty clinics and updates the physician's office (either by fax or phone) on the patients being scheduled.
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Previous hospital experience in dealing with the public, office Procedures and use of office machines.
